Charlotte opened the door of her home, which was a modest single-room apartment on the outskirts of the city where rents were the cheapest. She, simply, couldn't probably afford to live anywhere else. This small, shabby-looking cubicle felt, however, like home to her. She threw her work clothes into the washing machine and went for a warm shower. It felt good to stand there and turn the water up; Charlotte closed her eyes. She hadn't had time to take a proper rest at all, so now she felt hungry extremely. She wrapped herself in a pink bathrobe and walked to the kitchen. She chopped fruit into yogurt, toasted bread and heated up water for tea. It was heavenly to put the legs on the table and sit on the sofa. She would have a long shift again the next day, and the day after that, and the whole rest of the week.
