Seijan ihmetys vain kasvoi, kun Timo ohjasi pyörän heidän vanhan koulurakennuksensa pihaan. Seija hyppäsi tottuneesti tarakalta alas, suoristeli hetken helmojaan ja katseli ympärilleen. "Mitä ihmettä me täällä tehdään?" Seija hämmästeli. Timo hymyili vastaukseksi ja ojensi kätensä. Tokihan Seija siihen tarttui, vaikkei mitään mistään ymmärtänytkään. Kyllähän hän Timoon luotti. Jokin hauska juttu sillä oli taatusti mielessä. Timo veti Seijan perässään koulun pihalla seisovan koivun luokse. Seija katsoi kysyvästi Timoa, joka vain hymyili edelleen. Samassa Seija huomasi, että pojan kädet tärisivät aivan hienoisesti. Kun hän katsoi Timoa uudestaan, hymy näyttikin hieman väkinäiseltä. Seija säikähti. Mutta ennen kuin hän ehti kysyä mitään, Timo laittoi käden takataskuunsa. Kun Timo toi kätensä takaisin näkyviin, etusormen ja peukalon välissä oli jotain.

Seija's surprise only grew when Timo steered the bicycle into their old school building's yard. Seija jumped down from the rear rack as usual, straightened her skirt for a while and looked around. "What on earth are we doing here?" Seija was astonished. Timo smiled in response and stretched out his hand. Of course, Seija grabbed it though she understood nothing at all. She indeed trusted Timo. He certainly had something fun in mind. Timo pulled Seija behind him to the birch tree standing in the school yard. Seija inquiringly looked at Timo who still simply smiled. At the same time, Seija realized that the boy's hands were shaking slightly. When she looked at Timo again, the smile seemed a bit awkward. Seija was startled. But before she could ask anything, Timo put his hand into his back pocket. When Timo brought his hand out again, there was something between the index finger and the thumb.
