Opettaja tuli soittamaan kelloa ja kaikki riensivät sisään. Pulpettien päällä luki valmiiksi nimi, joten Seija istui määrätylle paikalle. Pöydät olivat paripulpetteja, joten Seija odotti innolla, kuka mahtaisi tulla hänen parikseen. Yhdellä tytöistä oli ystävällinen hymy. Seija piti häntä hyvänä ehdokkaana ystäväksi. Seijan katse osui viereisen pulpetin nimeen. Siinä luki Timo. Seija ei ehtinyt ajatella asiaa enempää, kun viereen jo istahti poika. Seija karahti välittömästi punaiseksi, vaikka poika ei edes puhunut mitään. The teacher came to ring the bell, and everybody rushed in. The names were already written on the desks, so Seija sat at the designated place. The desks were paired, so Seija looked forward to somebody who would come to sit next to her. One of the girls had a friendly smile. Seija thought of her as a good candidate for a friend. Seija's gaze fell on the name on the next desk. It read Timo. Seija didn't have time to think about it any further when a boy sat down next to her. Seija immediately turned red even though the boy didn't even say anything. The bench was attached to the desk, so she couldn't move any further but leaned to the side as much as she dared. Seija glanced at the boy. He really looked funny. His skin was tanned, and his hair had turned white from the sun of the summer. The boy looked at Seija, so she quickly turned her head back to the front. They were sitting in silence until the teacher started.
