Arvin mieleen hiipi epämääräinen kauhu. Joku oli ollut asunnossa, oli ehkä vieläkin. Hän kiersi huoneiston tutkien kaikki loukot, kurkisti kaappeihinkin ja verhojen taakse. Hänen oli pakko tehdä niin, vaikka häntä nolotti. Hänestä tuntui häpeän huipulta, että hän laskeutui kontalleen ja katsoi myös sänkyjen alle, ensin entisessä Markon huoneessa ja sitten omassa makuuhuoneessaan. Olihan järjetöntä epäillä, että huoneistossa käynyt olisi jäänyt vaanimaan häntä. Sariannan hajuveden tuoksu tuntui yhä. Mutta eihän Sarianna ollut voinut päästä hänen asuntoonsa. A vague fear crept into Arvi's mind. Somebody had been in the apartment and was probably still there. He walked around the apartment examining every corner and peeking in the closets and behind the curtains. He had to do that even though he was embarrassed. He thought it was extremely shameful that he got down on all fours and looked also under the beds, first in Marko's former room and then his own bedroom. It was also crazy to suspect that someone who had been in the apartment would've been stalking him. He still smelled Sarianna's perfume. But Sarianna couldn't get into his apartment. Only Marko and Tuukka had the key. Both used restrained, almost unnoticeable deodorants and aftershaves. Hanna was the only woman who could have the key. When Arvi drove the car, she held his whole bunch of keys. Nobody could get a copy of the protected key easily, but Hanna knew criminals, and among them, it was known how to do locksmithing. However, Hanna hadn't ever smelled of perfume.
