Arvi meni makuuhuoneeseensa ja haparoi valokatkaisijaa. Hän ihmetteli outoa tuoksua. Hän oli huomannut sen jo eteisessä, mutta oli sitten arvellut nenänsä valehtelevan. Tuoksu muistutti kukkakauppaa, mutta asunnossa ei ollut kukkia. Mintun tuoma hyasinttikin oli jo ajat sitten päätynyt jätteisiin. Tuoksu ei ollut kovin miellyttävä. Vaikka se oli makea, se oli samalla kirpeä. Arvi tunnisti sen äkkiä. Siltä tuoksui Sariannan hajuvesi. Kun makuuhuoneen valo syttyi, Arvi huomasi, että työpöytä oli epäjärjestyksessä. Arvi went to his bedroom and groped for the light switch. He wondered at a strange smell. He had already noticed it in the hallway but then thought that his nose was lying. The smell reminded him of a flower shop, but there weren't flowers in the apartment. Even the hyacinth that Minttu had brought already ended up in wastes days ago. The smell wasn't very pleasant. It was sweet but at the same time pungent. Arvi suddenly recognized it. Sarianna's perfume smelled like that. When the light in the bedroom was turned on, Arvi found that the desk was in disorder. He hadn't left the papers spread out that way. He went to the desk, and even before he picked up the paper on the top, he guessed what it was. His will had been taken from the lowest drawer, the sealed envelope had been opened, and the person hadn't even bothered to put the will back into the envelope.
