Two weeks ago, I had lunch with several of my knitting friends. While eating, we started talking about kniting, which is a very common topic for us. We shared the project we were current working on, talked about the difficult parts, and exchanged our ideas and advice. That's our normal pattern in our conversations.
All of a sudden, a friend of mine told me that she can't knit unless she feels calm. She said she needs to clear her mind before knitting. If she feels something negative such as anxiety, she can't focus on it.
When I heard that, I thought it was really interesting because I'm totally opposite. For me, knitting makes me feel calm, and I believe that it's a kind of mediation to me. While knitting, my negative feelings gradually disappear, and I can feel relaxed. That's one of the main reasons I love kniting. My other friends agreed with me, and we talked why we knit.
I love knitting, gardening, painting, speaking English, baking, cooking, and so on. I don't need to make calm myself before starting doing those things. If I can't do these, it rather makes me feel frustrated. I learned some people aren't. For them, before doing whatever they love, they need to control their feelings first. I learned something new that day.
The pictures below shows my current projects I'm working on.
