Just Back from Maternity Leave!

Have you had a similar experience? I just returned to work from maternity leave when my daughter was one year and eight months old.

Before going back to work, I was a bit worried about that I might have forgotten everything that I need at the office, because two years were quite long and my daily life was completely changed after I had become mom.

But fortunately, a few weeks later, I’ve realized that the concern was unnecessary and even I’ve improved my communication skills during the maternity leave.

I think the reason why I feel I’ve developed social skills is that I had to manage my daughter’s daily life everyday while interacting with various types of people.

For example, when she was sick, I needed to take her to the hospital and explain her symptoms clearly to the doctor. And even local people often spoke to me when walking around nearby because adorable little babies are special, they wanted to know about my cute baby👶🏻.

In addition, what improve my communication skills the most was that I tried to understand my daughter’s needs and emotion all the time without relying on words. Of course, babies can’t talk, they can only cry.

That’s why it was tough time when she was crying for a long time and I thought I did everything that I could such as milk, diaper, adjusting room temperature, holding her in my arms, but she couldn’t stop crying at all.

Although I struggled to take care of her really much, these experiences strengthened myself. Now I communicate with colleagues at work more smoothly and effectively than before, and returning to work helped me regain my confidence.
