Never underestimate the Impact you can have on others!
4 Minutes estimated reading time
Today I walked to the supermarket. Usually I would go there on my bike, but my bike is broken, so I had to walk. Which is fine, its only a 10 minutes walk to get there. On my way back home, had a lot of stuff to carry, it was hot and also the stuff was heavy, I carried big water bottles and all the food with me.
I walked fast, because I wanted to be home as quickly as possible, the bag was really heavy, and so I thought, if I walk fast, I can be done with it quickly and get it over it, I was stressed.
Then as I crossed the street, I had a Lady infront of me, with her child. I think the child must have been about 6 or 7 years old. The lady walked very slow, I would say almost unnaturally slow, in all seriousness. The Child next to her, kind of doing its own thing. As I watched I thought about bypassing her, feeling a little bit annoyed that she was kind of " in my way " , I mean... how rude! I was carrying lots of stuff and I was in a hurry, and I have to get back home lady! ( I hope you get the Ironie here ), as it reflects a bit how all of us think and behave, when somebody more slow is infront of us, whether that be, in a Car, on the bike, or even by foot, just walking and minding there own business. But anyway, thats beside the point.
What I was thinking next was, "hey, why dont I take this, as an opportunity to slow down, why the hell am I in such a hurry" I mean, its not like I had an appointment I had to get to, or work waiting, I really actually am allowed to take my time here and slow down.
And so, this is what I did. I kept walking behind that magical slow lady with her child, and then what happended was immediately I felt my heartbeat slowing down and I saw the trees around me, and I noticed the clear sky above me. After noticing my surrounding, as I became slower then finally I felt calmer, and I wasnt even planing to calm myself, I honestly didnt even notice how stressed I really was, until I slowed down and automatically fell into the pressent moment without even trying.
Only through slowing down, I could actually "see" what is around me, and feel myself and my breath. This moment, which happened just in a minute happened over a week ago, and still remember that so well. I keep reminding myslef, that its okey to "not" be fast or in a hurry all the time. I can slow down. Things will get done, and they can get done in different ways. Stressed and in a hurry or slowed down and in a relaxed way, and I choose the second option.
We all should slow down and "literally" smell the roses, dont you think ? Life is better that way. its crazy how on autopilot we all run around all day, let me remind you of this with this post and also let us all remember how ridicolous that looks from the universal perspective1 I recommend you to watch a Video on Youtube called, "Universe Size Comparison | 3d Animation Comparison | Stars Real Scale Comparison" . This Video always makes me reallys how funny this all is, this life. And that we can all just "chill" and have a good time!
