He grinned and then went to another room, turned off the lights, and after a while, it was silent. Karri tossed and turned in his bed. On the verge of sleep, he found it hard to believe all of this was real. Had those men behaving threateningly really been here? Was the girl he had offered a place to sleep really sleeping there? What would his father think if he knew? Karri wondered. On the other hand, it was possible that his father wouldn't have realized his son was already at the age where he must have imagined all sorts of things about such a situation. Fathers and mothers now completely understood some things impossibly slowly. It was annoying and embarrassing that in a way, his father was right in the fact that it wasn't necessary to watch Karri's relationship with girls. He was certainly interested, at the level of fantasy, but not in practice. In that sense, coming closer seemed impossible even a little.
