I don't know how I feel about AI. I'm a software engineer, and honestly, I don't see how it could replace me. Until a certain point, my point of view was that it's living proof that we live in an idiocracy because people believe this (gut feeling?). However, on the other hand, CEOs and big tech gurus constantly talking about AI replacing white-collar professionals has eventually reached me, and honestly, sometimes I feel anxious and even scared that it might actually happen. So, I don't know what I believe at this point. Maybe they are faking it until they actually make it.
I remember in 2016, when I was studying Computer Science, one of my teachers talked about how AI could replace many professions, but not Software Engineering. Deep inside, my question was, "How is it not possible? You type on a keyboard; shouldn't it be easy to replace it with AI?" However, I believed my professor because I thought they were smarter than me. Well... maybe my simple way of thinking was right.
Hi Norbert! Long time no see :)
I'm currently in the process of looking to switch fields and go into UIUX, but I regularly see them being replaced by AI here in the U.S. Companies simply don't want to pay; any way they can make more money and hoard it, they will use it. So while AI has proven to be inaccurate, inconsistent, and biased, they are still pushing to erase the humans doing the work. So much so that students are changing their majors because they fear there won't be a job for them in the future. They are literally developing a robot restaurant where the bot cooks the food... It's very possible.
