Vaikka syyttäjät kyseenalaistivat täysin sen sankarimaisen kuvan, jonka Keijo Vilhunen pyrki itsestään luomaan, se ei Vilhusta lannistanut. Hän halusi eritellä useita teosta kuulemiaan yksityiskohtia, joista oli ilmoittanut Aarniolle tutkintaa auttaakseen. Vilhunen muistutti myös kiistattomasta ansiostaan Hesperian tilakuuntelun mahdollistajana. Hän tahtoi oikeudessa avata tarkemmin operaation taustoja. Vilhusen mukaan Aarnio oli ilmoittanut poliisin aikomuksesta kuunnella salaa Ramin asuntoa, mutta syystä tai toisesta sitä ei ollut saatu järjestymään. Tämän vuoksi Aarnio oli kysynyt, olisiko Vilhusella tiedossa jokin toinen paikka, missä kuuntelu voisi onnistua.

Although the prosecutors fully questioned the heroic image that Keijo Vilhunen tried to make of himself, that didn't discourage him. He wanted to specify several details he had heard about the action which he had notified Aarnio to help the investigation. These things were information among others about the method and means of the murder as well as how the body had been carried from the residence. Vilhunen also remarked on his unquestionable advantage as an enabler of wiretapping Hesperia. He wanted to describe the background of the operation in more detail in court. According to Vilhunen, Aarino had reported the police's intention of listening in on Rami's residence, but for one reason or another, it hadn't been arranged. So, Aarnio had asked whether Vilhunen knew another place where the wiretapping could be successful.
