My Homegrown Red Onions

by

gardening

Every November, I buy some red onion seedlings and plan them in several containers. Last year, I planted fifty.

They grew slowly even during winter. This winter was especially cold, and it snowed twice. I was a little worried my red onions, but they kept growing.

In March, my peach tree bloomed and its petals fell on the containers. The weather became much nicer, and they grew much bigger.

Last month, they finally started peeking from the soil.

When they completely peeked out , it's time to harvest them.

Compared to last year, this year's harvest was much larger, which made me feel very happy. That day, I harvested 10 and still need to do the rest thirty. I think I mixed fertilizer and soil very well. I also placed the containers in a warm spot where the sun shined good enough. Gardening is like a science experiment to me. I'd love to make my homegrown onions lager next year as well. You can see last year's harvest here if you like.
