Yksin jäätyään Hellevi pudisteli itsekseen päätään. Tuo Raili oli oikein hyvä naapuri, mutta joskus hän oli aivan mahdoton, kerta kaikkiaan mahdoton. Villiintyä nyt tuolla tavalla ystävänpäivän rusettiluistelusta, tässä iässä! Hellevi noukki rusettiluistelulipun lipaston kulmalta ja aikoi käydä viskaamassa sen roskakoriin. Sitten jokin sai hänet kuitenkin empimään, ja sormet laskivat lipun sittenkin takaisin piirongille. "Antaa nyt olla siinä vielä", hän ajatteli. Jos joku olisi väittänyt, että sellainen ajatus juolahti hänen mieleensä siksi, että tapahtumaan osallistuminen oli salaa hiukan alkanut kiinnostaa häntä, hän olisi kiistänyt jyrkästi.

Hellevi picked the rousette skating ticket up from the corner of the chest of drawers and was about to go throw it into the trash can. Then something made her hesitate, and her fingers put the ticket down back on the chest of drawers after all. "Leave it there for now," she thought. If somebody had claimed that such a thought came to her mind because she secretly began to be a bit interested in participating in the event, she would've denied it sharply.
