When she dialed the number, Sara realized that this was the first time she'd called Martti since the betrayal was disclosed. Somehow that thought evoked a sense of guilt. Where did that feeling really come from? Had she been too strict, merciless? Not really. As the police officers showing up at the door and the wasted savings came back to her mind, the feeling disappeared quickly. She walked to the dark stairway when the phone rang. Am I really ready for this? she wondered as she closed the door of her father's secret office. When Martti answered the phone, she leaned her back against the cool concrete wall.
