A Hidden Place in Japan

If you travel around in Japan, where would you like to go? As you probably know, Japan has been suffering from over-tourism, so it's hard to avoid crowds. -

If you are looking for a quiet and nice place you can enjoy sightseeing, I highly recommend Ichijōdani Asakura Family Historic Ruins in Fukui Prefecture. I've visited there many times when I lived in Fukui. One of my daughter's best friends from high school used to live near the site, so I often went there. The river is very clean, so in summer you can even see fireflies flying around. The place is also historically famous. Sengoku Daimyo (a regional feudal lord in Japan’s Warring States period), the Asakura family had lived there until Oda Nobunaga destroyed them. The perfect castle town was discovered during the 1960's.

You can see the marvelous scenery here.
