The Sixth Sense

While painting, my cat came up to my painting desk and tried to get my attention. I stopped painting and started at him. I know what he wanted, so I carried him to his food area. It's a normal scene. He always disturbs me, which is his routine, so I used to it. However, he did the same thing over twenty times today, which was unusual. I wandered why, but I thought he might behave a spoiled child because of our new puppy. Recently I've been feeling sorry for him. I take care of the puppy longer than him. I thought he might feel jealous, and that's why he kept coming back to interrupt me. I cuddled him longer than usual and tried to speak to him even though I know he doesn't response.

All of a sudden, I felt shake. It was getting longer and harder, so I noticed it was an earthquake. Nothing was damaged, but my heart beat became faster. I hate earthquakes. Fortunately, my husband was at home, so we spoke each other to make sure our safety. Having a feeling that I was not alone at home made me calm down.

I wonder if my cat had sensed the earthquake and tried to warm me. When the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake attacked, we lived in Fukui Prefecture. Our dog at the time barked crazy before it happened. I believe that animals have a kind of sixth sense and try to alert us.
