I have watched the movie "A hidden life", a 2019 movie. It is based on a real story.

It's taking place in Austria, in 1938, after the soldiers of Hitler took places in Austria, the farmer Franz Jägerstätter refuses to make a oath of allegiance to the Führer.

I really wanted to Watch it, first because I am catholic, a devout one, and second because I saw some of actors I like were in the movie, including August Diehl, Tobias Moretti and Matthias Schoenaerts.

First of all, I was very disconcerted when I saw August plaing someone kind and sweet, a loving husband and father. I was used to see him at a bad nazi in some of his movies. I really think he is a good actor, and Tobias Moretti too, I am so used to heard them speaking in german and the voice they have in the french tv shows (Rex for Tobias by example) I was so shocked to hear them speaking completely in English. It was great nodaway.

The movie takes place in amazing landscapes, the farm was so charming, and the movie was so quiet ! I love silence, I love to hear nature, it was a wonderful dicovery.

Now, when I think about Franz Jägerstätter, the farmer catholic who stayed faithful to his faith and principles, I feel grateful but a little sad. Franz, on whom the movie is based on his life, is an example for me. I mean, during the war, who wouldn't be afraid and say yes to Hitler, only to be safe with his family ? It's because of the sacrifice of a lot of people, unknown for the majority, that Europe have been free from the nazis. From Hitler.

As a french, and because my great-grand fathers died during the two wars, I am happy to see a majority of people are still full of respect when time for comemoration are coming. France and Germany are not enemies, no more brothers wars. We have to learn about the history of our ancestors to build a strong and peaceful Europe.

After the movie, a question remain to me… Even with my belief, what would I have done? So much people were not bad, but only to saves their beloved, they have done so much bad things… I don't know, so I will not assume.
