My mom's quick steps, rapidly rhythmic speech, words stuck together, no pause in her action. Today, only instructions and prohibitions, city talk. It could've been concluded that there was a hint of autumn in the air, but this was already winter. I took the tin soldier from the pocket of my city trousers and grabbed it so hard that my palm hurt.
