The days were hot; at nights, I would open the window of my room and climb onto the roof. This was, for me, like the attic of a city house, a kind of forbidden secret, but without wells and a roof, there was no need to walk lowering the body, but only out of fear of falling. I didn't know how to worry about such things; somebody would've immediately reached out their hands and taken me in their arms. Here, I could rely; here, nobody hurt themselves ever. Old wounds also healed quickly, sometimes even scars.
