Vaikka olemisen itsestään selvänä pidetty aineellinen perusta katoaisi, mitä ihmiset muuta voisivat kuin jatkaa oloaan samaan tapaan kuin aina, jotteivät ahdistuisi ja sekoaisi? Mitä väliä sillä edes olisi jos joku vasara katoaisi silloin, kun kukaan ei sitä katsonut? Siis jos se kuitenkin haluttaessa olisi käsillä. Sehän olisi oikeastaan parempi systeemi kuin se tavallinen tapaus, että jotain työkalua, sitä tarvittaessa, ei löytynyt etsimälläkään.

Everything would be the same as before. Even if the tangible foundation of existence, which is taken for granted, disappeared, what else could people do but continue to exist the same way as always so as not to get anxious or crazy? What difference would it make if a hammer disappeared when nobody was looking for it? So if it was still at hand when it was wanted? That would actually be a better system than the ordinary case that when it was needed, a tool wasn't found however you looked for it.
