It's been a long time since my last post here. This post is a mess, but happy to be back.
I'm less and less disciplined and missed many English classes. These days, many students are absent from classes, and our teacher doesn't stop telling us that if attendance is not enough, the class will be cancelled.
Saturday, I went to an English-speaking circle for the first time. We were a small group, and we played games like Scrabble and Taboo. This is not a class, just an opportunity to speak English with other students. Our teacher also told us they need more people for the speaking circle, so few of my classmates came on Saturday. I think it's a nice opportunity to practice.
That being said, I want to speak about starting things and stopping. I like learning and trying new things. However, I often stop after 1 year of practice. For example, when I was a teenager, I learned guitar and violin for a year. Then I stopped, played volleyball and stopped after a year as well.
In 2019, I discovered and practiced Silat (a martial art from Indonesia and Malaysia). Unfortunately, the pandemic forced us to stop, and I never came back to it as I moved to another city, and this art wasn't available. I really liked that, and I'm so devastated it's not popular and well-known in Canada.
At the beginning of the year, I wanted to make a video each day in English just to practice and improve. If I'm honest, it's a fail. I only did 1 video. Really, I'm impressed by people who can stay disciplined and do something every day for a long time. By the way, does someone know a site like Journaly for speaking? Do you know where I can record vocals and get a return?
It's also hard to stay disciplined at the gym. I work out with a personal trainer since summer 2024. With my first coach, we trained twice a week, but she moved to another province in Canada, so I decided to pursue it with the owner of the gym once a week. I used to do 1 day by myself and 1 day with the coach, but for 2 or 3 months my discipline declined. Today, I asked the coach if we can make it twice a week.
I procrastinate a lot!

People do post audio here as well to ask for feedback on their spoken language.
See the following post: https://journaly.com/post/16840
Journalers can record something on a free audio recording platform like vocaroo.com where they can generate a link to the recording.
There is a headphone icon that I have seen in the post titles, to indicate that the post has audio that feedback is requested on.
If you search for vocaroo.com in the search filters you can see examples of posts with audio.
I don’t know how they get that icon for their title.
Thank you @Nemvagok I had never seen a post with audio before. I think it's a good idea. Now I have no more excuses. 😂
The one year of doing something is interesting. It’s a natural cycle, isn’t it? Today at work I told our newest employee, “don’t worry, we aren’t allowed to yell at anyone who is still in their first year.”
And then I went on, “and don’t worry, after a year everyone has figured out know how to do everything, so in truth we have never yelled at anyone ever.”
I think after a year a person knows enough to go onto different things.
