Marja oli jo iltapäivällä pakannut tavaransa huolellisesti laukkuun, kirjoittanut viestin hotellivirkailijalle ja pannut sen laukun päälle siten, että kantaja sen varmasti huomaisi. Laukun hän nosti oven ulkopuolelle, sillä bussi lähti kentälle aamuyöstä ja matkatavarat haettiin jo iltakymmeneltä vastaanottoon. She lifted the bag to the outside of the door because the bus left for the airport early in the morning and luggage was already brought to the reception at 10 p.m. Marja looked around the room, closed the door of the terrace and drew the curtains in front of the windows. She went to the refrigerator and took from it a bottle that the owner of the small family restaurant had given her as a farewell gift. Marja went to eat at this little place every day during her two-week vacation, its owners were restrainedly friendly in the Portuguese way, and the food was good, at least the little that she managed to eat.
