In Japan, there is a tradition to use pine, bumboo and plum as symbols for celebration. This combination is called shōchikubai (松、竹、梅) in Japanese. The idea originated in China and was introduced to Japan in the Heian period (794 to 1185).
At the end of last year, I designed a pair of cups to celebrate the New Year using these symbols, but I couldn't finish them. A couple of weeks ago, I finally completed them, so I'd like to share them with you here.
I'm not good at designing abstract art, but I enjoyed working on these pieces.
The five circles on the bottom represent pine trees.
The leaves and the stalks describe bamboos.
The five-petaled flowers are plum blossoms.
When you see these symbols using on items, it usually means they are used for celebration.

You say "I'm not good at designing abstract art", but the photos clearly show that to be incorrect!
P.S.: I don't see a single language error! Well done.
Wow! Gorgeous! I love the designs around the inside of the cup. So intricate and detailed--such a pleasing pattern. Great job!
@intentar_y_fracasar Thank you so much for such the wonderful compliment! I'm very flattered.
@Ersatzjello Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the pattern. Actually, painting inside isn't easy. I have one more topic to write about 松竹梅. So, stay tuned!
