In November of 2024, I decided to take the First Certificate in English exam, and started feverishly preparing for it by reviewing my old materials and dictionary. By a stroke of luck, I came across a smart, kind and outgoing person who volunteered to help me tune up my English. It was Uly. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have known about this helpful website and met such enthusiastic people here.
At the very beginning of this year, I focused on watching various YouTube channels, reading books and learning new words. But frankly speaking, I was lazy in the summer, but at least I had a great time. The summer was coming to an end, and a real challenge was looming on the horizon. In the fall, I covered a lot of ground on different topics from grammar to dozens of quizzes to writing. Twelve months later, I feel like that was just the tip of the iceberg, but now I know what little details I need to pay attention to and just enjoy this journey. In the end, I improved my English, but not by leaps and bounds. I was anticipating something much better.
At any rate, thank you all for your help and corrections. I wish you all a Happy New Year! Lots of luck, health and wealth!
I really like that you described your appreciation for Uly and mentioned him by name specifically! We could all do with being more openly appreciative.
I'm with @VivaciousJules , I'm honored and humbled to have been able to help you. And I disagree โ your English has improved by leaps and bounds. The fact that you could write this post is proof of that. Happy New Year to you and much success in English!
