Hey, there are a few spoilers here, so, please, refrain from reading if you intend to watch Avatar 3.
My review will not be a long-read because this isn't a complicated movie. Actually, I wasn't expecting a lot from a subsequent sequel in this franchise. It was three hours of fights and video-game-like visuals. To my delight, the director added some human conflicts, like those between parents and children or society and individuals. As a result, the battlefields and dramatic scenes divided the movie in half. I wasn't bored during watching... well, almost; the structure of the final battle is extremely predictable because this hackneyed Hollywood pattern with double win-lost cycles is so disappointing. I see zero creativity here from James Cameron.
The second thing that disappointed me was when the director tried twice to let our protagonist and antagonist step out from of the banal kill-or-be-killed-type conflict. But every time nothing was changed eventually. Every hero did return to his previous approach.
Moreover, the pacific motto "violence causes a new violence" didn't play out in the film at all. War was the only workable answer. Therefore, militarism for peace is the crux of the whole franchise in my opinion. For balance, I have to add that the film has a strong anti-colonial message too.
In summary, the new Avatar is full of militarism, anti-colonialism, family's virtues and Hollywood cliches. Nevertheless, it may be watched once. The playing in solitaire is highly recommended during watching.
