Then it stopped as suddenly as it started, and a ray of sunlight gleamed from between the clouds. Such a beautiful day was hardly seen throughout the winter. Now more of the red was mixed with the white over time. It spread, occupied the area, crept forward along the snow crystals and colored them as it proceeded. Some of the red had flown further into spots on the deep snow. It was so brightly colored that it would certainly have screamed its redness if it had had a voice.
