Have you ever considered to live a more simple life? By simplest life, I don't mean a minimalist one where you would basically declutter some of the stuff you own, move to a smaller place or even get rid of half of you wardrob and... What I mena is a life where you will be maybe closer to your familly, freinds as well as nature, a life where you will finally pursue and focus on the things that really matter, and forget about all the rest. I don't know you, but I am like obsessed with this idea since the pandemic first hit. Certainly, this wish was in my mind for a long time, however it became more and more present with the lockdown and the feeling of stifling it sparked.
I am sure I am not the only one having those thoughts. Indeed, I have read several articles and came across multiple poll whether in the US or Europe where people living in big cities were thinking about moving to the countryside. Their main motivation was that after having gone through lockdonw, they have realised how having enough space and a garden or even a "small green space" was vital for both their physical and mental health. Beside that, because some of them were oblige to work remotly, all of a sudden the option of moving far from their work place while continuing to deliver became doable.
Anyway, In my own case I have been thinking about how amazing my life would be if only I could be in a farm in the middle of nowhere, living a sustainable life, growing my own food, being totaly off grid, and taking from the soil only what I really need, not more nor less. In one word, being self sufficient and more thoughtful about all the environmental challenges we are facing today.
I am writing about this topic, because this afternoon I have spent a really enjoayble time with my grandma, watching some interesting docs on tv. The first one was an episode of a famous Frensh documentary called "Les carnets de July" where July basicaly goes to a given Frensh region and meets with the local produceurs to set the light on the amazing work they do in order to maintain the traditions and provide hight quality final products, despite the difficulties and though conditions. The second right after was "Ma vie rurale" (my rural life) where the cameras have followed farmers during their daily life to show what it is like to run such a huge organization.
These amazing programs and the witness I heard have fueled my wish to eventually move to the life I really want. I know that it is not an awake dream and an easy life where everything would be smooth and work as planned. In fact, the two documentaries have shown how tricky it could be. However, I find that it is really worth it. If I think about it, even though my current life seems to be comfortable, I do believe that in the long run the downsides would start to pop up for sure. That’s why, I should start thinking seriously about an alternative. The one I have described above sounds good.
Hi Aschraf, good writing, just let down by many small spelling errors. What do people think about using spell checkers for their Journaly entries?
The topic you write about is very topical, of course and worth exploring.
Thanks Peet. I do not use checkers honestly. I should read my text before publishing it but I am lazy 😅
Very interesting topic. I'm going to see if I can watch the two programs you mentioned to help improve my French while learning about a topic that interests me. I would definitely recommend using a spellchecker for your Journaly entreis, so we can focus on correcting your grammatical/word choice errors instead. English spelling is crazy, even we native speakers generally need to spell check what we write.
You definitely should check the programs @Larkspur 👌 Thanks for the advice 🙏
