It's so interesting when you break up with someone. Even though you know that they are one of the greatest people you know - their kindness, their intelligence, their humor, their strength - you're just not compatible with them. I tried to save my relationship for years because I could see how amazing they were. I tried to fix myself in order to make it work, but the thing is, there's nothing to fix. I'm not broken, she is not broken, and if there is nothing to fix, there is nothing to do, really. I wish I'd realized this sooner - Self-esteem is really important

That saddest thing about this type of situation is realizing that you were probably meant to be really good friends, but because the romantic relationship didn't work out, you may never know what's it would've been like to just be friends. Or maybe that's still an option if you two are on friendly terms. We have an expression in English: You can't go back to holding hands, meaning that for some couples, once you've been intimate, you can't go back to just being friends. But I agree with your assessment that there's nothing to fix — you're both two wonderful people in your own right. Have you ever listened to the song Ordinary People by John Legend?
@CocoPop - I just did. Good song!
