She knew that Tommi came every evening, held her in his arms and talked. Krisse heard through the fog Tommi talking to her about ordinary things. How the construction of the house was going. How beautiful the lake looked when the ice had partly gone from the bigger one. Who all had asked about how he was feeling. Everything that Tommi was talking about felt strange as if they had happened in another world. At some point, the man's voice, however, made Krisse fall asleep, and she guessed that it was just Tommi's intention.
