Kaadoin äkkiä toisen mukillisen kahvia ja tuijotin uudestaan kalenteria. Selasin kalenterin sivuja edestakaisin useamman kerran varmistaakseni havaintoni. Miksi en ollut huomannut tätä aikaisemmin? Olisiko tässä sittenkin avain Inkerin kohtaloon? Voisiko asia olla niin yksinkertainen? Ajatukset sinkoilivat päässäni edestakaisin ja yritin saada epätoivoisesti ne jäsentymään jotenkin loogisesti, niin että saisin muodostettua päässäni kuvan siitä, miten asiat olivat tapahtuneet.

I poured another cup of coffee quickly and stared at the calendar again. I riffled through the pages of the calendar back and forth several times to confirm my observation. Why hadn't I noticed this before? Would it be like the key to Inkeri's fate after all? Could the issue be that simple? Thoughts were flying back and forth in my head, and I tried desperately to arrange them somehow logically so that I would get an image formed in my head about how things have happened.
