All You Need is Killを見てきた。前の投稿では90年代のアニメみたいだと言った。ぜんぜん違った！映像だけ見たから3次元のアニメーションだとは知らなかった。スペシャルエフェクトは特徴で格好いい。ビジュアルについて話すなら大変楽しかった。

I just saw All You Need is Kill. In my previous post I said it looked like a 90s anime. I was totally wrong! I had only seen pictures so I didn't know that it was animated in 3D. The special effects were very unique and cool too. Visually, I really enjoyed the movie.

いくつかの音が強烈だった。SFXだけを聞けたらホーラームービーだと思うかもしれない。ある程度でそうだ。

Some of the sounds were intense. If you just heard the sounds you might think it was a horror movie. In some ways it is.

物語は、リタと言うなんか出来なくて若い衛兵が宇宙からの花みたいな化物を戦わなければならないタイムループに引っかかる。死ぬたびに、思い出のすべてを持っていてその朝で起きるが、他の誰も何が起こるか知らない。ループにも引っかかるケイジの手伝いで、化物の基地に侵入すると、核を壊す。どうせ明日へ着く。

The story is this: Rita, a young soldier who is not very capable, gets stuck in a time loop where she has to fight plant-like aliens. Every time she dies, she wakes up that morning with all of her memories, but nobody else knows what's happening. With the help of Keiji, who is also trapped in the loop, she makes it to the centre of the alien base and destroys the core. Finally, they reach tomorrow.

親しそうでしょうか。「オール・ユー・ニッド・イズ・キル」ともいう映画はもう公開された。でも英語では、Edge of Tomorrowというから、今まで気付かなかった。数年前リリースされ、トム・クルーズがいた。その映画のふたつは2003年からのAll You Need is Killという本に基づく。変ですね！同じ物語の映画のふたつ…このストーリーは永遠に繰り返すかもしれない。

Sound familiar? It's the same story as another movie, which is also called All You Need is Kill. But, in English it was called Edge of Tomorrow, so I didn't realise until now. It came out many years ago, and had Tom Cruise in it. They are both based on the book All You Need is Kill from 2003. How weird! Two movies with the same story... maybe this story will keep repeating forever.

わたしは、そんなにタイムループに引っかかることは悪夢だとみなす。諦めたいと思う。リタは自分を殺そうとするけど、無駄だった。わたしは彼女の頑張る気に感動された。

I think it would be horrible to be stuck in a time loop like this. I would want to give up. Rita tries to kill herself but it doesn't work. I'm inspired by her tenacity.

前に座る人はわたしより高かった。わたしはちょっと小柄だから、この問題は普通なんだよ。わたしと字幕の間の視線に座るから、どうせ頼れなかった。ときどき、字幕を読んだから、観客の全員が何かを笑ってから、何秒後わたしは聞くと笑えるようになった。そのことも面白かった。ほとんどすべてが分かった。研究者の登場まで。早口だし知らない専門用語を使うし。でも分からない期待があると分かった。通常にもっとも感動的な瞬間だけ分からない。ここでもそのことが起こった。映画をふたたび見ないとね！みったび、よったび、いつたび、むいたび…

The person sitting in front of me was a little taller than me. I'm quite short, so this is a common problem. He was sitting right in front of the subtitles, so I couldn't rely on them after all. Sometimes, the rest of the audience would laugh at something because they read the subtitles, then I would hear it and laugh too. That itself was funny. I understood almost everything, until a research scientist appeared. She talked very fast with technical jargon I didn't understand. But I understood I wasn't supposed to understand. Usually I understand everything except the most important emotional moment. That happened here too. I'll need to rewatch the movie! Again, and again and again, and again...
