The other day, my Italian-Colombian-American friend — Italian mother, US dad, grew up mostly in Colombia — and I took a trip to the nearby forest. While we were walking, we discussed how Hungarians are very similar to Americans in a bad way. We realized that Hungarians have picked up almost all the bad elements of American culture — like extreme individualism, materialism, showing off, and being “friends with a goal”, celebrating their holidays more than our holidays, stupid pictures — but not the positive ones, like Optimism, Innovation, Pragmatism, Can-do attitude, convenience and wealth. Hungary became McHungary.
