I just finished knitting a beret for myself using the Fair Isle technique. I'm a big fan of this style, and knitting with it is always so much fun! Fair isle originated on Fair Isle , a small island in Scotland. Traditionally, the pieces are knitted with wool from Shetland sheep and used a wide variety of colors. There are also many different kinds of patterns. Since lots of different colors are used for knitting, Fair Isle knitting looks much more colorful and stunning from other knitwear. In addition, the braiding technique keeps the fabric even much warmer. Even though Fair Isle uses lots of different colors, the finished pieces aren't heavy at all.
As usual, I took the step-by-step photos, so I'd like to share them with you. It was fascinating to watch a beautiful pattern gradually appear while knitting.
