Ramen is a type of Japanese noodle dish, and it's popular among everybody. I've heard there are some ramen shops in Texas from my Texan friend, and I saw even one in Italy last year. You can see the photo in this post. I guess it's gotten more popular around the world.
I like ramen too but I try not to have it too often because I care about sodium. Ramen is tasty because it's unhealthy. Even so, it sometimes hard to ignore it.
I especially go to ramen shops in the summer. Eating hot noodles in the summer might not sound a good idea, but it's a great way to replace sodium after sweating. I don't need to feel guilty pleasure in that way.
Ramen in Japan have lots of varieties. For example, there are thin noodles, thick noodles, straight noodles, curly noodles and more. The soup also have several varieties: soy sauce, salt, tonkotsu (pig born), chicken, miso and more. Tonkotsu ramen has a thick, rich aroma of broth made from boiling a large amount of poke bones at high temperature for a long time. It is very popular, but unfortunately, I don't like it. I just can't stand the pork bones' smell and the very thick soup.
The picture below shows my favorite ramen. I prefer thin noodles with soy sauce-based soup.
The second picture shows tsukemen (a type of ramen). You dip the noodles into the soup each time before eating.
The last one is also one of my favorites. The ramen soup is based on salt and dashi (a broth made from fish and seaweed).
We have tantanmen (spicy noodles) too. When I have it, I'll write about that too.
