Tuosta hetkestä alkoi eristäytymiseni, luopuminen, yksinäisyys. Päinvastoin kuin äiti oli opettanut, toistin itselleni etten ollut vastuussa siitä mitä ympärilläni tapahtui. Vastasin vain omista teoistani, ja tarkemman harkinnan jälkeen en edes niistä, koska omia tekoja, toisten teoista irrallisia, ei ollut. Eli en ollut vastuussa mistään. Vastuu oli vallanpitäjien luoma myytti, jonka tarkoituksena oli pitää alamaiset kurissa. Minun tekoni eivät vaatineet vastuun kantamista.

From that moment, isolating myself, giving up, the loneliness started. Contrary to what my mother had taught me, I repeated to myself that I wasn't responsible for what happened around me. I was only responsible for my own acts, and after closer consideration, I wasn't even for them because there weren't my own acts separate from others' acts. In other words, I wasn't responsible for anything. Responsibility was a myth that those in power created, whose purpose was to keep the subjects under control. My acts didn't require bearing responsibility.
