Finger Lime

Today, I'd like to introduce a little bit unique plant called finger lime, which is from Australia. Since I love gardening, I was looking for some exotic plants and spotted it. I ordered it online and received it a couple of days ago.

It produces fruit that looks like a finger and tastes like lime. That's why it's called finger lime. It's still quite rare in Japan and we definitely won't find it at grocery stores yet. I'd like to use the fruit for cooking.

I replanted it a larger pot as soon as I received it and placed it a sunny spot. I'd love to grow it in a pot because this plant is weak against cold. Winter in Japan can be quite harsh, so it probably will need protection. When the weather turns cold, I’ll either move it indoors or relocate it to a warmer spot. It's much more convenient to grow in in a pot.

It'll take at least three years for it to start producing fruit, but I'm already excited! If you're curious and want to know about it more, check it out here.
