I went to Málaga, Spain, for a day just to enjoy the city, and maaan — Spain just hits different. The culture, the people, the vibe—it's the best I've ever experienced hands down.
The only downside I can find in Spain is that people don’t really speak English. I want to learn Spanish just for this reason—so I can actually communicate with Spanish people. I’ve never wanted to learn a language just to connect with one specific culture… until now.
Do you have a favorite country or city that just hits different? Ever Been Somewhere That Just Felt Right?

I learned Spanish for this exact reason - except the people and cultures I connected with were from Central and South America. It's been a grand adventure and I haven't regretted it for a second! Having that underlying motivation to keep you going when it gets difficult is really helpful in language learning, which can be an absolute slog if you don't have a strong sense of purpose behind it. Good luck to you in your Spanish studies!
What a great post! I can totally relate. My parents were Cuban and I was raised in a Spanish-speaking household, but about ten years ago, I discovered Spanish shows and movies (from Spain) and totally fell in love with the culture and the people. At first, it was a little difficult to follow the way they speak Spanish, and I actually kept a running glossary of the words and phrases that they use. Then my sister started watching, and I shared the notebook with her. We started using the same words and expressions — at first in jest, but then they stuck, and now we use them all the time 😂 And the funny thing is that our grandparents on my mother’s side were from Spain, so in a way, I guess my sister and I went back to our roots.
