Today, Toyota announced that they'll open a futuristic city named Toyota Woven city in Shizuoka Prefecture this fall. They'll start with about 300 residents and gradually expand the population to built a community of around 2,000 people.
This morning, while talking on Skype with a friend of mine from Texas, I brought up this topic. We watched some YouTube videos relate to this city and discussed it.

The city reminds me of Dogen city, which I wrote about a couple of months ago. Both are located in Shizuoka Prefecture. I'm guessing that the city is between Nagoya and Tokyo, so probably it's located conveniently to access to both major cities.
The city will be controlled by advanced technology and it's probably good for elderly people. They'll be at ease to live alone or independently from their children more comfortable. However, I don't like the idea of having the feeling that someone is watching me all the time through robots or drones. When I was a kid, I enjoyed watching "Astro Boy". In the anime, they often described futuristic society such as people relied on robots or other advanced technologies. I never imagined we’d live in such a world during my lifetime. Our future will be very unique. Although I'm not interested in living in such a city right now, it might be nice when I get much older. What do you think?

It will be interesting to see how it works. There have been many attempts to make planned cities from scratch, but many of them don't work out.
That's very interesting. I'm also very curious they work or not. Thank you for the comment!
It is amazing how quickly technology moves, much faster than we can comprehend. If this futuristic city does emerge, I would love to visit.
@bakerboy001 Yes, it it. So, you mean you aren't interested in living there, but you'd love to visit, right? Same here!
