Last night, I attended an amateur musician's year-end party and performed a cover of an Elliot Smith song. I believed I'd overcome my stage fright when I was able to give my all in a dance recital, but I realized I was mistaken; my fingers shook, and I couldn't pick the appropriate string. I had to stop several times and each time I restarted from the middle. I was disappointed. I'd hoped to showcase the beauty of Elliott's song and the fruits of my three years of training. On the bright side, the audience was really friendly. Some people asked me about the song, and the owner of the bar saw me out to my car in the chilly rain and complimented me on my playing. I really appreciate them. The food was quite good, too. Furthermore, this experience provided insights into my performance abilities and an opportunity to reconsider my practice strategy. I'm happy to have taken part.

You're very brave! I'm sure the next recital will be even better.
@marsupiali Thank you so much for your kind words and informative corrections!
Many musicians have stage fright before performing. They learn to focus on the music and can forget about the stage fright once they begin. I think this must take many performances.
@t4up3 Yes, focus and experience do matter. Next year, I'll try to have more opportunities to perform in public. I'm going to start by taking my guitar to gatherings of family and friends.
