Today, I went to Kyoto to take my painting lesson. After the class, my husband picked me up at the closest station. On our way home, we looked up at the sky and noticed that it was the full moon. It looked so beautiful that I took some photos.
Since I took the pictures with my smartphone, the resolution wasn’t great.
In Japan, craters on the moon are said to look like a rabbit pounding steamed rice to make rice cakes.
I’ve heard that different cultures see different images in the same moon pattern, which I find very interesting.
Tonight, it's the last full moon of the year, so take a moment to look up at the sky and enjoy it. What image do you see on it?

As usual such an interesting journal. And thanks for the reminder, I am going to watch the moon tonight to enjoy its beauty.
@Emaaa2001 Thank you as always for reading my posts! I'm curious what image you see on the moon in your country. Enjoy it.
I haven’t paid much attention to the sky in years, but with all the recent drone sightings across Connecticut and nearby states in the US, I’ll probably start skywatching soon. I've heard people talk about the man in the moon.
@SEQ77 My friend from Texas showed me some YouTube videos about the drones. It looked like an UFO, and he told me it might fly from the middle eastern area. In the States is the image on the moon a man? It sounds interesting. I'll ask about it to him. Thank you for sharing.
カニ!🦀
@Aki_ カニに見えるのは、ヨーロッパの国でしたか?イギリスだったかな?私にはウサギにもカニにも人間にも見えませんw
I always see a sad face because she has been separated from her beloved who is the sun, Yumi @yumiyumayume .
@druida I've never thought the sun and the moon are a couple. Does it relate to a Spanish mythology? If so, it's so sad because they've never ever met again.
This idea comes from Greek mythology and is very romantic... They are seen when there is an eclipse, Yumi @yumiyumayume
@druida I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing. I'm not sure if I've read the Greek mythology. Yeah, it sounds very romantic they can meet when there is an eclipse. I should read the mythology!
