This summer was extremely hot, and I couldn’t wait for it to end so I could enjoy the autumn leaves, but now that the cold has set in and the distant hills have turned white ― how lovely!, I find myself missing the lush greens of summer.
今年の夏はとんでもなく暑かったから、早く夏が終わって秋の紅葉を見たいなんて思っていたのに、寒くなって、あら素敵―遠くの山が白くなると、夏の緑が恋しくて仕方がないです。

"I was keenly waiting for this year’s extremely hot summer to end so as to enjoy the colours of autumn leaves; however, cold winter has already come, turning the distant hills white, and I now find myself missing the lush greens of summer."
This revised sentence has a slightly better flow. I used more concise phrasing to reduce the word count. I also placed a semicolon before "however" to create a smoother transition. Sometimes, it's just neater to have simpler sentences instead a long, complicated ones. Still, I really enjoyed this one-sentence challenge! :)
@Mari-Ella Thank you! I usually stick to simple sentences. What's important is clearly conveying what I want to say to the reader. However, since I haven't properly studied punctuation, I experimented with writing just one sentence. I might try it again sometime. :)
@Aki_ I'm currently studying punctuation myself, which is why I found this challenge so interesting. :) The website "Grammar-Monster" has been a great help and super useful for me. Feel free to check it out if you'd like (it's free). :)
Thank you for recommending the website. I'll check it out :)
