Home-grown Rose Hips

In my garden, rose hips have been growing, while some roses are still in full bloom. A couple of days ago, I harvested some rose hips for the first time.

It was fascinating to watch their colors changing—from green to yellow, then orange, and eventually red.

The rose hips in the picture blow are from a different variety of rose.

I harvested some of them.

I soaked them in honey.

This morning, my husband and I enjoyed my homemade yogurt topped with honey-soaked rose hip. It tasted mix of sweet and sour.

I have several varieties of roses which produce rose hips, but they are all still young. Once they produce more, I'd love to dry them to make rose hip tea. Rose hips are rich in vitamin C. I've been taking vitamin C from tablets, but I prefer taking it from natural products. I'm already looking forward to next year and wondering how many rose hips my garden will produce.
