I'm a new fan of Elliott Smith. When I first started playing guitar, I watched a lot of solo guitar and vocals videos, and the YouTube algorithm recommended his. I immediately fell in love with his music. At that time, I already had my guitar, so it's just a coincidence that it's the same as his, a Gibson J45. I recently learned that the guitar strings he used were John Pearse. I purchased a set the other day and received them this morning. I changed my guitar's strings right away.
I was thrilled that my guitar sounded very similar to his. New guitar strings typically sound bright and sharp, whereas John Pearse strings don't. They sound rounded from the start. I could play my guitar with these strings indefinitely.
In addition to his Gibson, Elliott played an inexpensive YAMAHA guitar. I won't buy another acoustic guitar, but I'd like to try one when I get a chance.
Excellent post β succinct, interesting and very natural.
I didn't know the difference between "vocal" and "vocals". Thank you so much, Uly!
My pleasure as always!
