MY FIRST TIME LEARNING A LANGUAGE ON MY OWN.

by

Hi everyone, my name is Maria, I'm 21 years old and this is my first time writing in this platform.

To be honest I didn't know how to start, I was introduced to this platform for a friend, he's learning french and improving his english, so he invited me to read his first post and I just fell in love with the whole idea of this webside. So I'm an english learner and a portuguese one BUT I still don't have the level to write in Portuguese (sadly), I tought okay, I don't have a perfect level of english and I wanna improve it, so in the meantime I decided to write about how my expirience learning portuguese is going, and, to give you all more context, I have to tell you a little bit more about how I started learning english. When I attented school, those years I had english classes , but being honest, I didn't pay much attention. My mom decided to sign me up in an institute when I was 12 , which I quit (desition I regreat). But okay , so when I finished school, I took a year to decide what to study. In 2021 I started international business, but I had to quit due to personal reasons and that broke me up, I felt a little bit lost for that time, so I decided to learn english, my parents signed me up in an institute and I attended and tried to learn, so then again, I got bored, I didn't really have a reason to learn english, it wasn't the culture from a country, or maybe something about the way the language sounded, but my main reason became thisone: it was my way to earn some money. For personal reasons my family was in a tough spot (economically speaking) so that course was basically my university, which I had to get advantage of. So that became my reason. Meanwhile I got to know me with english, at least with the bases i got previously, commun classes and square methods weren't working. That was the time when I found Mr. Salas channel, and I started appling the input method to my learning journey, from that time to here I've been improving, I still don't feel that confident but I'm willing to learn.

Coming back to my english journey, for that time, I fell in love with english, I discovered the beauty of the language, and I just wanted to learn others. I don't know for other public, but getting to know people from other countries and cultures and get to understand and communicate was awesome. I meet incredibly people from France, U.S and U.K , and We all got to understand each othe through english. That made me deeply happy, to be able to talk and to feel like I'm knowing other countries through people. So yeah, for everyone reading my biggest dream is to travel around the world and not just travel but interact with the culture and citizens. I know so far it's too much text, so I'm gonna stop here and make a second part. I will be telling you how I decided to learn portuguese and this one which it's my first time by my own. Thx in advance for correcting me and reading this huge text :)
