We planed on spending our last day in London because seeing Ofelia at Tate Britain was on my bucket list. However, unfortunately, we run out of time. Instead, we went to a small town called Kent.
While Martyn was parking his car, I spotted blackberries again. It felt like blackberries were everywhere in England, and I couldn't help but felt jealous.
Since the town was a suburb of London, we saw lots of large houses. Martyn mentioned that living there must be expensive.
We were heading to a busy area.
I found a Japanese beer sign! It said SAPPORO PREMIUM BEER!!
We stopped by a futon shop, and I found a very interesting tatami screen there!
As a Japanese person, I couldn’t quite understand the design—it was puzzling to me.
We saw a lot of dishes with different Japanese patterns!!! Discovering little pieces of Japan in the town made me really happy.
I remember reading a news article about Wagamama, a restaurant that popularized katsu curry in London. I'd never seen Wagamama in the States, and it was my first time to see the restaurant. By the way, "wagamama" means "selfish" in Japanese.
We stopped by a Thai restaurant to have dinner. I'm not a fan of spicy food, but I do love Thai cuisine. British-style Thai food was quite different from what I've had in Japan or the States.
The roads we took were lined with trees, forming natural tunnels. I really enjoyed driving through them.
Martyn drove me to the airport, and saying goodbye was bittersweet. We promised to see again in Japan next year. Martyn and Lynn spoiled me so much on this trip, and thanks to them, my time in England was amazing! When they come back to Japan next year, it'll be my husband's and my turn to spoil them. We've already planned on taking them to Shirakawagou, a Japanese version of Cotswolds.
I flew to Linate, Italy from Gatwick. Since it's my first time at the airport, I took some time to explore there and found sushi.
I also spotted a shop with a Japanese sign, but it didn't make much sense to me.
I think Japanese culture seems quite popular in England, and it made me happy.
While thinking about Martyn and Lynn, I boarded the airplane bound for Linate, Italy. As I was dozing off, I heard the announcement, " We are flying over the Alps. It's a clear day, so you can see them very well.". Since I didn't want to miss the view, I took some photos.

Great view of the Alps, Yumi.
@druida Yes, it was! I used to fly to Linate from Paris or Amsterdam, so the route from England was different. It was my first time seeing that view. I got lucky.
Wonderful as always! I'm looking forward to hearing about the next leg of your trip!
@Sunflower1234 Thank you as always for reading my post!
I would use the tatami screen as ござ :D
