Hoy voy a mi grupo de español para practicar. Gracias de nuevo por nuestra llamada Crosstalk de ayer. Fue divertido.

English: If it helps, I am happy to help with your English homework. Just send me a message through WhatsApp and I can respond or we can arrange a call. I am going to my spanish group today to practice speaking Spanish. Thanks again for the crosstalk call yesterday. It was fun.

Questions and Reflections

Si te sirve, estoy feliz a ayudar vs. Si te sirve de ayuda, estaré encantada de ayudarte: I would not have thought to write “de ayuda”  I’m thinking it is just a more natural construction but I don’t know how I would have arrived at it. Why add “de ayuda” at all? Doesn’t “si te sirve…” mean “if it is helpful to you?”

Estaré encantanda: I would be delighted? Sounds better in English as well but I am thinking “estoy feliz…” works, no?  Adding “de ayudarte” sounds better as well.

con tu deberias/tareas de ingles vs. tus deberes de inglés : basic errors on my part. Missed number agreement with tu vs. tus. Misremembered work for homework as “deberes.”

Solo, me envia envíame: indirect objects come after command. Basic error.

por What’sApp vs. en What'sApp: I thought “por” would be correct here. Not sure why  “en” is used.

Responder vs. responderte: I need to practice including the pronouns.

Armar vs. concertar: “armar” was a wild guess on my part. I was trying to remember any word for “to arrange” and that was the closest I could come up with. I see it is incorrect. But, interestingly, I have never encountered the verb “concertar” before. So, perhaps I just never came across the works for making an arrangement or arranging something. Hoy, voy a ir: It is minor but one thing I have changed in my writing over 11 entries is to put the vocabulary regarding time at the beginning of the sentence. Very small success.

A practicar vs. para practicar: “De ayer” vs. “ayer” Just better I guess. I’m not sure why.
