English: Yesterday, I did not write. Instead, I used the time to read and study my past writings and their comments. I am trying to find patterns so that I can improve.
Questions and Reflections The major revision was in the final sentence:I wrote: Estoy tratando a buscar patrones para mejorar.DeepL: Intento buscar patrones para poder mejorar. I’m not sure why there are two infinitives here “poder mejorar” when I want to say, “so that I can improve.” I would think “puedo mejorar.” Overall, I’m pleased with how much of my draft was correct. However, I did keep it pretty simple today.

"So that I can improve" would translate as "para que (yo) pueda mejorar". The thing is, in Spanish we don't use such a subordinate clause when its subject is the same as in the main clause: *"(yo) trato de buscar patrones para que (yo) pueda mejorar" -> we replace that with an infinitive. So, "trato de buscar patrones para poder mejorar" -> the infinitive implies the subject doesn't change.
Hope I've been clear but otherwise just ask. :)
Completely understand and it now seems familiar. I'm sure I've been told this before. Thanks for the great explanation. Appreciate your time.
