Rubén Darío (1867-1916) was a Nicaraguan poet, journalist and diplomat and one of the most prominent representatives of modernism, a Spanish-American literary movement that set a precedent in the history of the Spanish language.
To love, to love, to love, to love always, with all
one's being and with the earth and with the sky,
with the brightness of the sun and the darkness of the mud;
to love for all knowledge and to love for all longing.
And when the mountain of life
is hard and long and high and full of abysses,
to love the immensity that is of love aflame

In this poem by Rubén Darío we have alexandrine lines, which are lines of 14 syllables and which were widely used in modernist poetry.
The rhyme has the formal structure of ABAB CDCD: ‘todo’ and ‘lodo’, ‘cielo’ and ‘anhelo’, ‘vida’ and ‘encendida’ and, finally, ‘abismos’ and ‘mismos’.

Hello again @T-Newfields. Modernism was a universal literary movement, although its origins are mainly in Latin America and Spain, manifesting itself differently in different regions and contexts. In Spain, modernism influenced authors such as Antonio Machado and Juan Ramón Jiménez and in Hispano-America it influenced poets such as Rubén Darío.
