José Zorrilla (1817-1893) was a Spanish poet and playwright, famous throughout the world for the romantic drama Don Juan Tenorio.

Ah! is it not true, angel of love,

that on this remote shore

the purer the moon shines

and breathes better?

This wandering aura filled

with the simple scents

of the peasant flowers

that sprout from that gentle shore;

that clean and serene water

that flows unafraid

through the fisherman's boat

who waits singing for the day,

is it not true, my dove,

that they are breathing love?
