Mariano José de Larra (1809-1837) was a Spanish writer, satirical and literary critic, journalist and politician. He is considered, along with Espronceda, Bécquer, José Zorrilla and Rosalía de Castro, the highest level of Spanish literary Romanticism. He published more than two hundred articles in the press over a period of eight years.
